10 Of The Best Stock Footage Websites

Video is quickly becoming one of the most important parts of any internet marketing campaign and it is estimated that by the end of 2013, around 90% of all internet traffic will come from video views. Of course, not everyone has some super fancy equipment for creating stunning videos but luckily, there are a lot of stock footage websites where you can buy high quality clips for low prices. Here are some of the best.

#1 - Shutterstock

Shutterstock started out as a stock photo website but they now offer video clips too. There are some amazing clips on the site from just $19 each. In fact, the site has over 763,000 clips to buy.

#2 – BBC Motion Gallery

The BBC Motion Gallery is definitely one of the best stock footage websites out there. The quality of the footage is amazing and there is all sorts of stuff to choose from. There are royalty free clips and rights managed clips too.

#3 – Footage.net

Footage.net is perhaps not one of the most famous websites when it comes to stock footage but it is absolutely packed with great footage. You can find footage of almost anything you could want on this site too.

#4 – Artbeats

Artbeats is a great footage website where you can even get a free clip if you register for the site. Again, you can find hundreds and thousands of clips of almost anything you could want on this website.

#5 – iStockPhoto

Much like Shutterstock, this website started out as a stock photo site but now offers video, audio and much more. There are thousands of video clips available on this website, all of which are high quality too.

#6  – Mr Footage

Again, one of the lesser known stock footage websites but certainly a great one. This site offers footage of tonnes of stuff and there are HD clips too.

#7 – National Geographic

National Geographic has to be one of the best stock footage sites out there. Some of the clips are truly stunning and although not the cheapest, it is worth it if you are creating something beautiful.

#8 – GettyImages

Again, a site that started out in stock photos that now offers video. There are some stunning clips on the site from a variety of hosts and there are HD clips too.

#9 – Vimeo

Strangely enough, Vimeo actually has a stock footage library of its own and a lot of it is available for free too. Vimeo is definitely worth exploring if you want great, but high quality footage.

#10 – Pond5

Perhaps the biggest stock footage site out there, Pond5 has more than 1.3 million video clips available and even more illustrations and After Effects files. Some of the clips are great too.

If video isnt your thing and your looking for Stock Photography instead www.photoisca.com is a great choice.

  1. VideoHive is pretty good as it’s cheap and there is some great stuff on there however you just have to do a bit of trawling! ;)

My overall favourite is Revostock as it’s a good compromise between price and choice. I have also written a blog post about my top 5 stock video websites as well. Check it out

  2. VideoHive should also be mentioned. They have a lot of footage, and are also linked to AudioJungle, who sells Royalty Free Music:
