When it comes to designing a website, starting from scratch will be quite time-consuming and there are actually better ways. One of the things that you can use in order to make things a little bit simpler for yourself is a CSS framework. If you haven’t used these before, then you should understand that these will be able to save you a lot of time when starting your project as they as basically pieces of code that have already been created for you. There are a lot of CSS frameworks out there and we have found what we think are the best three:
- FEM CSS Framework – This is a CSS framework that is based on the common 960 grid system behind a lot of the best websites in the world. This framework has a 12 column system but it has a little bit of a twist. This framework will really allow you to speed up your design and coding process and will ensure that you are working to a strict and well thought out system that many websites are designed with. The framework is completely free to download and use and it allows you to create websites that are compatible with many browsers.
- Formalise CSS – This is a fantastic CSS framework that will ensure that you are able to create good looking and cross browser compatible forms when you are creating your website. As a website designer, you will probably have noticed that one of the things that is always a problem with design is cross browser compatibility with forms. With this framework, all of the hard work is already done for you and it is free of charge.
- The Square Grid – This is a simple CSS framework that has been created for website designers and developers. The framework is based on 35 columns that have equal widths. The idea of the framework is once again to cut down on the development time for web developers and to allow you to create structured websites easily.
There are many other great CSS frameworks out there so it is well worth looking for them if you have regular needs.
