What Is Wordpress?

WordPress is the official successor of b2\cafelog which was originally developed by Michel Valdrighi. b2\cafelog was estimated to have been used on approximately 2,000 blogs as of May 2003.

WordPress .70 was first released on 27 May 2003, with the newest version of Wordpress being version 2.7.1 which was released on February 10, 2009.

Wordpress is an open source software licensed under the GPL. The Wordpress platform is built on PHP (versions 4.3+) and MySQL (version 4+).
