As I discussed in yesterday’s article Internet Access On Mobile Phones Increasing, more and more mobile phone users are making a habit of accessing the Internet on their devices.
I believe that just about anyone who was going to have home Internet service is already connected to the web, so as the numbers continue to rise on mobile phones, you’re going to see more and more websites cater to mobile users.
Amongst these is Mapquest, who has recently added a new feature called Mapquest 4 Mobile. Mapquest 4 Mobile allows users to save directions and maps within a personalized profile for easy access in the future. Mapquest 4 Mobile is still in its BETA stages, and is offered as a free application to Blackberry users.
Another feature of Mapquest 4 Mobile is the ability to track your location via the GPS chip in your mobile phone. Using this chip, Mapquest 4 Mobile can keep track of your progress as you continue through your route, or if you end up lost somewhere, it can give you directions on how to get to your destination based off of where you are at the time.
If you’ve had the opportunity to try this new mobile app, let us all know how you like it by posting your comment below.
