Webmaster Interview With Back-Links.org

Back-Links.org

As I continue to search the Internet for websites or blogs that I feel would be helpful to my readers, I stumbled upon Back-Links.org. I see this as a great up-and-coming blog that regularly features articles which contain great information for those who are looking to promote their website, or who are just looking for helpful online information.

This article includes my interview with the site owner, Will Blears.

Q: What is your name?

My name is Will Blears, however online I usually go by the name of Willyboy104- no real reason as to why I chose this name.

Q: Where are you located?

I was born in the UK and I am still living here, although my home city is Manchester I am currently at London for University. I am planning on going to China in two years as a part of my course.

Q: What made you decide to start blogging?

The main reason was because of the way I learn, I learn by doing. At the time I knew little about Blogging and Internet Marketing and I wanted to learn more about SEO. I thought what better way to learn than to start my own SEO website. A couple of months down the line I realized that I could make a living from blogging and since then I have made an effort to keep my blog up to date, full of unique information and tried to build my blog each month.

Although my blog has expanded from what once was created as just an SEO website, I’ve learned that focusing on just SEO would not allow me to survive in the blogging market, so since then I have extended this so that I now write about everything related to Internet Marketing.

Q: How long has your blog been online?

I started my blog back in October 2007. The lack of experience and knowledge I had when I first started my blog has lead to the blog growing little within the first couple of months of my blogging career. However this is all part of the learning process, in whatever aspects of life you are going to make mistakes and to become an expert of any field it is going to take time. The main point that you have to keep in mind is that persistence is the key to success.

Q: What would you say is the overall purpose or goal of your blog?

The goal when I started was to use the blog to learn for myself, however since then I have expanded my knowledge tenfold and I am now lucky enough to teach others. The purpose of my blog is to teach others who are interested in Internet Marketing, to be able to share my experiences with them, along with my mistakes and my successes so that they can succeed with their goals in life.

Q: Where do you see your blog in one year?

I believe goals are important in any aspect of a person’s life. As for my blog, my goals for this year are to exceed 1,000 subscribers, exceed 1,000 unique views each day, to build on my current community, to exceed 500 internal pages and lastly to achieve my search engine rankings and build my websites strength within the search engines.

Q: What about your blog makes it unique?

Uniqueness is an important asset to anyone’s business, especially when your business is so competitive just like blogging is. The uniqueness that my blog brings is my personal experiences and way of writing. I always try to add my own personal experiences, opinions or tips. That, I believe is the key to making your posts different from everyone else.

Q: What is your favorite post you’ve ever published on your blog?

This is a hard question to answer, John. I would probably say my article which talks about social media marketing and its shift to niche social media marketing. Although I have enjoyed writing every article on my blog, I enjoyed this one more because I was able to get my own opinion across and make it the focus of the article. It’s my own theory that social media marketing is going to shift into a more niche based market, and its one I feel is happening now.

Q: What is the biggest mistake you have made on your blog?

I consider the biggest mistake I made on my blog was to not start my site on a blogging platform. When I started my website, it was just HTML/CSS/PHP and every time I added a new article I had to create a new page, code it myself then upload it, edit the navigation both sidebar and top bar, edit the index page, sitemap page and RSS page.

As I said earlier, I was still a beginner on the Internet and to be honest I didn’t realize WordPress would make my job so much easier in months to come. I have written a series of articles on my blogging mistakes, if you would care to read them you can here: 11 things to consider before you start blogging.

Q: What else would you like to say about yourself or your blog?

Firstly, thank you John for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this Interview with you. Secondly, I would just like to say that there is not a single key to making yourself a success, it is a combination of factors which together result in you or your business becoming a success. If you persist with your work and you have a clear set of goals in mind, I guarantee you will achieve them. Again, thank you for giving me this opportunity; I hope your readers enjoy this and get something out of it.
