If you run a website or a blog, then chances are that you probably use WordPress to run your website, WordPress is one of the world’s most well known and most widely used content management systems and it is used by hundreds and thousands of people around the world. Now, a new version of WordPress has been released and it has some pretty cool new features. WordPress 3.0 was released a couple of weeks ago and if you haven’t upgraded yet, then you really should. Here are 5 of the best features that it has.

1. Menu Management


This is one of the most exciting and most talked about features in WordPress 3.0. The new feature gives you full control over the nagivation area of your website. Menu Management gtives you a drag and drop interfaxce that will allow you to create new pages and sub pages for your website. The menu magament feature is displayed in a great way that will really help you to understand the layout of your website and helkp you to add additional pages. You can use the interface to create a menu that has links, internal pages, external URLs, categories and much more. Basically, it is a much easier way of organising your website and it is great.

2. New Default Theme

When it comes to how WordPress looks, then you will probably have to install a completely new theme if you want it to look decent. With old versions of WordPress, the theme that you got was very basis and you couldn’t really made it look good, no matter how hard you tried. Now, with WordPress 3.0, there is a new default theme. The new theme is called TwentyTen and while it still probably doesn’t really look like you really want your website to, it looks a lot better. Check it out.

3. Custom Background

This is a very exciting feature of the new WordPress 3.0 release. You are now able to change the background of your entire site with just a few clicks. If you wanted to do this before you would have had to buy a theme that had this feature built in and even then it wasn’t always that easy. Now, you can do it for free on WordPress 3.0 and it works extremely well.

4. Change the Header Image

The header of your website is basically something that needs to look good. In the previous version of WordPress it really didn’t look good at all, and even though it probably still isn’t exactly how you want your website to look, it has certainly been improved in WordPress 3.0. There are now a number of options for the header of your website and you can even upload one of your own if you have one designed. Brilliant.

5. Custom Post Types

Sometimes, when you want to add a bit of a different post into WordPress, you will find that WordPress really makes it difficult for you. This has all changed in WordPress 3.0 with the release of Custom Posts. You can now add anything you want really and the only effort you will have to put in is putting a few lines of code in the post so that WordPress knows what you want.
